The Municipal Garden is a beautiful oasis in the midst of the commercial center of the city. It offers an ideal spot to refresh and enjoy the gardens and the pond with the ducks ans swans. It is located between Andrea Papandreou and Tzanakaki Street. It is a project of the philhellene Reouf Pasa and was designed in 1870 according to European standards. It was planted with many evergreen plants as well as endemic and exotic trees under the supervision of Pasa himself.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, a café was a pleasant addition to the Garden as a place to serve the needs of the community. It has been renovated, retaining some of its original architectural and design features, and it is open to public. A unique feature of the garden is the open air cinema that every summer projects quality movies for the lovers of the 7th art. The clock tower of the city is located on the north-east part of the Municipal Garden. Its construction started in 1924 and ended in 1927 and constitutes one of the most remarkable buildings of the City of Chania.
